Important message for Windows ME users: There is currently a problem with updating to version 3.5 on systems running Windows ME. This problem prevents version 3.5 and version 3.0 from running. Users have successfully installed 3.5 on ME systems that do not already have 3.0 installed on them.

Please Read Below First

Before purchasing at the online store, you need to decide

1. Which user license (Basic or Advanced) that you will want (details), and

2. Which taxonomic list(s) you will want to use (available lists).

Don't worry, you can start simple (for example, a basic user license and the ABA taxonomic list which covers North America) and then add on as you go.

Once you have decided, you can then go to the Online Store (what you will see there) and purchase what you want. You will specify a password and receive a license ID after you have successfully purchased your options online. Then, using Birder's Diary, you simply enter both your password and ID for each purchase and start using your new tax lists or upgraded functionality. You will use your License Information window (Help | License Information) and press the Unlock Now button in order to enter your License IDs and password.

During the purchasing process, you will have the option of receiving a shipped CD for the product. While the product is always available for electronic download and your license never expires, some folks would prefer to have a physical CD in their hands for the extra cost of shipping. Taxonomic lists are only available for download, although most taxonomic lists are already shipped with the product - either electronically or via physical shipment.

You can come back to the Online Store at any time in order to get that needed tax list for an upcoming trip, or check for new taxonomic lists being added all the time. For example, Butterflies of NA, Dragonflies of NA, etc.

Once you purchase a taxonomic list, you are not done yet. You must download the list from here, and import it into your copy of Birder's Diary. Then you are ready to start using it!
